Garden Tour & Plant Sale
Saturday, May 21st (rain date May 22nd)
About the Garden Tour:
Five lovely gardens and a natural area are featured on this self-guided tour. The tour provides a variety of sites for novice and experienced gardeners alike to get ideas for their own home gardens. Homeowners and docents will be available at each site to answer questions and provide information.
About the Plant Sale:
For over fifteen years, the plant sale has been the primary fund raiser for the Garden Club of Fair Haven. Well-established perennials from members’ gardens are featured at attractive prices. This year’s sale also includes specialty shrubs and bushes (some flowering and others that provide year-round color). Flowering baskets nurtured by garden club members will also be available for sale at the Firehouse while supplies last. Additionally, the club will provide refreshments at the sale.
Locations:
The Garden Tour starts at the Fair Haven Firehouse (River and Battin Roads), where you may purchase tour tickets and pick up the tour brochure & map. The Plant Sale also takes place at the Fair Haven Firehouse. Some specialty plants will also be available for sale at garden tour sites.
Time:
To be announced.

Questions & Answers about the Tour/Plant Sale:
Are children/pets allowed on the tour?
Some of the gardens on our tour have steps, pools, or ponds that may be attractive to young children. Safety is a concern. For these reasons, we request your understanding that children under age 12 are not allowed on the tour, nor are pets or strollers.
How do I find the gardens on the tour?
Start the tour at the Fair Haven Firehouse, where ticket holders will be given a brochure about each garden and a map. Signs will also be placed at each home whose garden is on the tour. Please adhere to any posted parking restrictions and park legally at each location.
Important: tickets must be shown at each garden site on the tour, with the exception of the Harding Bird Sanctuary, which is open to the public.
Are the homes open for touring as well as the gardens?
Only the gardens are available to tour-goers. Rest room facilities are located at the firehouse only and are not available at individual homes.
Are the gardens handicapped-accessible?
Yes and no. Yes, because every garden on the tour can be enjoyed from several angles by anyone who may not be able to traverse the entire site. Depending on the site, however, some steps or inclines may present a problem for individuals with handicaps.
What if it rains on Saturday, May 21st?
We plan to go ahead on Saturday even if there is a light rain, but do have a rain date the next day (Sunday May 22) in the event of severe weather. Please note that a sign will be posted at the firehouse if the tour/sale is postponed on Saturday.
What is the deadline to purchase Garden Tour tickets?
$15.00 advance tickets are available by mail through Wednesday, May 18th; write to GCFH at 30 Fisk Street, Fair Haven, NJ 07704 or call 732-842-6047. We will mail your ticket(s) if time permits or you may opt to pick it up at the firehouse on the day of the tour. Tickets will also be sold at the firehouse on the day of the sale/tour for $20.00.
Thanks to all our tour-goers and buyers for your support!
Proceeds from the tour and sale will help us fund various activities such as civic beautification projects throughout the borough of Fair Haven, donating flower arrangements for Meals on Wheels recipients, educating scouts and youngsters in our Juniors program about plants, gardening & nature, and providing a scholarship to a deserving high school senior pursuing environmental or nature studies in college.
